We count on the Design Engineer for:
- Design and development of fiber optic harnesses, opto-mechanical, and opto-electrical solutions for military/aerospace, industrial, medical, and networking industries
- Generate design concepts for new projects based upon cooperative development with customers
- Coordinate prototyping of new products with engineering technicians
- Drive research and development activities in support of new product development initiatives
- Create concept drawings and models to document product requirements
- Participate in design review and new product introduction meetings
- Qualification of new materials and components for harsh environment applications
- Define and develop products with a focus on design for manufacturability
- Provide product costing in support of new product designs
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and new products in the opto-mechanical, laser and fiber optic fields
Our Design Engineer will have / demonstrate:
- BS degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics with a minimum of two years practical experience preferably in the opto-electrical or laser industry
- Knowledge of fiber optic cable assembly and/or wire harness manufacturing preferred
- Knowledge of transceivers and circuit board integration
- Proficiency in Solidworks or experience with a 3-D Modeling software
- Knowledge of configuration management, experience with Solidworks PDM preferred
- Familiarity with ISO9001/AS9100 quality management systems
- Experience with Bills of Materials, Engineering Change Notices and other various Engineering documentation
- Ability to identify risk, characterize the impact and mitigate the exposure for the end product
- Knowledge of GD&T methods
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and drawings
- Ability to work in groups or in cross functional teams
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
- Ability to control diverse priorities and assignments
- Strong attention to detail
- Project Management skills
