Fibre Cables
Fibre cables consist of the following parts:
- Core – The thin, optically-pure Glass center of the fibre where the Light signals are transmitted.
- Cladding – The material that surrounds the core. The Cladding traps light in Core and protects against signal loss.
- Buffer Coating – The protective coating applied directly to the fibre.
Fibre cables offer many advantages over traditional copper cables. These advantages include lighter weight, small diameter, higher bandwidth, use less power, non-flammable, EMI and RFI immunity, better suited for Data transmission, and provide less signal degradation.
