Laser Optimized Fiber
Laser optimized Multimode Fiber (LOMMF) Cable assemblies offer a unique solution for premise networking applications by enabling Data Transmission over longer distances, previously only available through single Mode solutions. By virtually eliminating Differential Mode Delay (DMD), LOMMF cable assemblies can transmit data up to 300 meters at 10 Gb/s, without the need for Node re-interpretation.
LOMMF cable assemblies are designed to connect seamlessly with any multimode network, and most Single Mode networks without the need for a mode conditioning cable. This transition can increase Bandwidth and reduce the overall cost of Network connections in both new and existing networks.
LOMMF cable assemblies differ from standard multimode cable assemblies by incorporating graded refractive Index Profile Fiber Optic Cable into each assembly. With this type of fiber, the Refractive Index of the Core Glass decreases toward the outer cladding, allowing paths of Light towards the outer edge of the fiber to travel more quickly. This increase in speed equalizes the travel time for both short and long light paths, ensuring accurate information transmission and receipt over much greater distances.
Multimode fiber is optimized for Gigabit Ethernet connectivity over fiber. The graded index glass core helps to limit Differential Mode Delay (DMD), allowing for 10 Gigabit transmission speeds up to 550 Meters on a 50 Micron Laser Optimized fiber.
