(1) Time in which the recording of an event is simultaneous with the event. The real time of a Satellite is that in which it simultaneously reports on its environment as it encounters it. (2) An application in which information is received and immediately responded to without any time delay. See Synchronous. (3) Usually used to describe situations when two or more people are interacting via their keyboards on the computer in real time, versus delayed back-and-forth communication, such as with e-mail.
