Refractive Index
The refractive index is the ratio of the velocity of the speed of Light in an optical Fiber versus the speed of light in a vacuum.
Refractive index varies based on the Frequency of light; that is why different colors of light travel at different speeds.
The refractive index of the Core in an Optical Fiber must be higher than that of the Cladding in order for the Transmission of light to be effective.
