Glossary
Resolution
(1) The clarity of the image on video display screen. Three factors influence resolution: lines of resolution (vertical and horizontal), raster scan rate (number of times per second the image on a video screen can be refreshed or "lit up" again), and bandwidth. (2) The amount of detail that can be seen in a broadcast image. The resolution of a TV screen is defined by the number of horizontal lines of picture elements that the screen displays and the number of pixels per line.
